Meet Jen Christiansen, DNP, PMHNP-BC

Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

My approach focuses on you as a whole person, not simply a diagnosis. I appreciate working together to develop a treatment plan that is individualized, evidence-based, and realistic for your goals and your life. Psychiatric care works best when it is collaborative and thoughtful!

I view medications as one tool within a broader approach to mental health care. I also believe in the value of sleep, movement, relationships, and other aspects of everyday life and focus on incorporating these into treatment when they are relevant to your goals.

Originally from the Midwest, I discovered the beautiful Pacific Northwest while travel nursing and decided to plant roots. When I am not working, I am happiest outside – hiking in the mountains, exploring the Pacific Northwest, or planning my next adventure. I am a huge fan of traveling, good food, discovering new places, and spending time with my favorite people. I value curiosity, humor, and authenticity. Anthony Bourdain once said, “The extent to which you can walk in someone else’s shoes or at least eat their food, it’s a plus for everybody.” I try to carry that curiosity and openness into my work as well as my daily life.

Education and Experience

I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree from Montana State University. Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, I spent nearly 13 years working as a registered nurse across a variety of clinical settings throughout the United States. I also volunteer with a disaster relief medical team that responds to humanitarian crises around the world which included a deployment to the Bahamas to provide nursing care following a devastating hurricane. These experiences have shaped my appreciation for trauma-informed care and the importance of understanding each person within the context of their individual experiences.
